Who We Are
Kitty Bonde (she/her/hers) founded Divergent Empowerment LLC in 2022 to offer a unique approach to traditional behavior consultation services to the growing number of families in Dane County raising Neurodivergent children. As a Neurodivergent person herself, Kitty is a passionate disability rights advocate, teacher, artist, and immigrant. Born and raised in Germany, Kitty’s interest in cultural diversity and language was sparked early after moving to the US with her family at the age of 9. While completing her MA in Cultural Anthropology at Southern Illinois University, Kitty worked at a camp for children and adults with disabilities. Kitty now has more than thirty years of experience working in the disability community.
Kitty is a certified Special Education teacher with over twelve years of experience supporting students with significant support needs in Madison, developing Life Skills classes and vocational training programs, including the Youth Grow Local Farm with the Goodman Community Center and Troy Community Gardens. Kitty has also provided Support Broker services to adults accessing long term services in Dane County and most recently worked for Avenues to Community as a Children’s Long-Term Services Coordinator. In addition to her professional background in the disability field, Kitty is also trained as a Yoga teacher (RYT 200) and other mindfulness practices such as meditation. When working with clients, Kitty draws on her diverse background and personal experiences to understand each person’s individual perspectives and needs, building on their strengths.
Life is a Journey with Divergent Paths
“When I was younger I was looking for this magic meaning of life. It’s very simple now. Making the lives of others better, doing something of lasting value. That’s the meaning of life, it’s that simple.”
– Dr. Temple Grandin
